Our Philosophy

The New Bern Sangha is a lay led Buddhist community established in 2000. We draw from the teachings of many Buddhist masters. We believe the Buddhist teachings can help everyone negotiate life no matter what religion or spiritual path. 

Where We Gather

NEW BERN SANGHA - 2nd TUESDAY at 5:30

Hosted by Stan Allen and Debora Wheeler, we meet at a home in the DeGraffenreid  neighborhood at 5:30 p.m. Our gatherings include silent meditation and a Dharma discussion. We draw from the teachings of many Buddhist masters.

MEDITATION CLASS EVERY WEDNESDAY at 11:30

We meet at the UUFNB located at 308 Meadows Street in New Bern NC at 11:30a.m. Molly Knazek leads a guided meditation and mindfulness talk for beginners and seasoned meditators. Email mollyknazek@gmail.com for more information. Please note: schedule may change in the summer.

RECOVERY DHARMA - TUESDAY 1:00 and FRIDAY 6:00

We meet at the UUFNB at 308 Meadows St. in New Bern. Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement that believes in the potential of a person to recover from various addictions. We draw on traditional Buddhist teachings to offer a powerful approach to healing and living a life of freedom. Additional information on Recovery Dharma: www.recoverydharma.org. BLOOMING LOTUS SANGHA - 3rd TUESDAY at 5:30

We meet via Zoom on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Our gatherings include silent meditation and a Dharma discussion lead by Susan Broderick. Our discussions focus on the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and the traditions of Plum Village, but we also draw from other Buddhist teachers. QIGONG - EVERY MONDAY at 11:30

​We meet at the UUFNB at 308 Meadows St. at 11:30 a.mQigong is a slow, easy practice that has been practiced in China for thousands of years. It lubricates your joints and massages your organs. It also slows your breath and mind. Qigong can be done standing or sitting depending on your physical abilities. For more information contact Christine Doty at  chrisdoty48@gmail.com. We ask for a $1 donation for the UUFNB.
